For example, acrylic will be corroded and cracked when exposed to ketones and chlorinated solvents, which not only shortens the service life but also causes potential safety hazards. For laboratories that need to contact corrosive chemicals for a long time, metal glove boxes can provide more stable and reliable protection.
In addition, the compatibility of supporting equipment also reflects the performance difference between the two materials. Metal glove boxes have a rigid structure and can be stably connected with vacuum pumps, gas purification systems, temperature control devices, and other precision equipment, realizing automated and integrated operation. Plastic glove boxes are limited by their low strength and are difficult to carry heavy external devices, so they are only suitable for simple manual operations.
